How to Get from Adelaide Airport to the City
Adelaide Airport is seven kilometres from the CBD. Here is every way to cover it, and what each one is actually like.
Adelaide Airport (ADL) sits at West Beach, about seven kilometres from the city centre — one of the most conveniently placed capital-city airports in Australia. The drive is usually 15 to 20 minutes, stretching to 25–30 in weekday peak or when there's an event at Adelaide Oval.
Here are your options, most affordable first.
Public bus
Adelaide Metro services connect the airport with the city. It's by far the cheapest way in, and perfectly reasonable if you're travelling light and not in a hurry.
Downside: luggage on a public bus is awkward, services don't run all night, and you'll still need to get from the city stop to your actual accommodation. Check current routes and timetables on the Adelaide Metro site — they change.
Taxi
Rank outside Terminal 1, metered fare, plus a $4.50 airport service fee at the time of writing. No booking needed.
Downside: the queue when several flights land together, and a fare that rises with traffic.
Rideshare
Walk to the designated pickup zone and wait for your allocated driver. Same $4.50 service fee. Pricing rises with demand.
Downside: the walk with luggage, cancellations, and surge pricing exactly when you'd rather not pay it.
Hire car
Desks are in the terminal. Sensible if you need a car for your whole stay.
Downside: paperwork before you've left the building, CBD parking is expensive, and it's a poor choice if you only need to get to a hotel once.
Pre-booked chauffeur transfer
The vehicle is allocated before you land, your chauffeur tracks the flight and waits inside arrivals with a name board, takes the luggage, and drives directly to your address. Fixed fare, agreed in advance.
Downside: it costs more than the bus, and you have to book ahead. If you're one person with a backpack, that's not worth it — take the bus or a taxi.

Where to find your driver
Adelaide Airport runs a single integrated terminal, so there's only one arrivals area. For domestic arrivals, pre-booked chauffeurs wait near the baggage claim area; for international, just outside the customs exit doors. Taxis and rideshare are outside, at separate designated areas.
